Watz up madlang CCNAers! I hope everything is doing good on your end. Mine? It’s great! I just passed the CCNP Switch exam last tuesday. Can’t express the happiness!
Kagaya nga ng na-ishare ko before, I decided to limit the articles and update on this blog this year-end kasi busy sa work and I am reviewing for my next Cisco certification exam. And after taking the CCNP Switch v2.0 exam last Tuesday, boy I made it! I passed the exam! This is a very nice gift for Christmas and a great way to start a New Year. Yay!
I took up CCNP Switch version 2.0. This is the most updated version of CCNP Switch exam provided by Cisco as of today. Passing this exam renewed my CCNA certification PLUS I’ll carry this CCNP Switch certification on my profile too.
This will extend both certifications for another 3 years. Para maging ganap na CCNP, I need to take 2 addtional exams which are CCNP Route and CCNP Tshoot.
I’ll have that in the future. Ngayon, time to relax and enjoy muna. Time to celebrate. Wohoooh!
My CCNP Switch self-study
This time, I didn’t took a formal training. I just gathered resources and did a self-study. Since kahit papano ay may alam naman na ako, I thought na no need to to enroll for a training. Isa pa, ung mga topics at lessons naman is kasama na rin sa mga ginagawa namin sa trabaho so hindi na ganun kahirap para mag-aral at mag-review para sa exam.
I just read CCNP Switch ebook and watch CCNP switch videos. Then practice the lab and the exam. Self-discipline at effort din kasi gusto ko talaga matutunan yung mga hindi ko pa nalalaman not just for the exam but for my job too.
But before it happened, as I shared before I am a very big fan of planning and settings goals. After deciding(August 2015) that CCNP switch is the exam I’m going to take, I created a simple plan and set my goal. Kagaya din ng ginawa ko nung sa CCNA journey ko. I made a simple excel sheet with schedules and kung anong lessons/topic ang aaralin ko on that given schedule. And I just followed them.
In fact, I also put a sticky note on my laptop para lagi ko s’yang nakikita at nababasa. One way yun para ma-push ang ating brain to achieve our goals.
I spent 2-3 hours on each schedule para manood ng CBT nuggets video or magbasa ng CCNP switch v2.0 ebook. Then on the succeeding month, practice the lab and exams. Paulit-ulit lang. Minsan tinatamad din pero lagi ko pinu-push yung sarili ko to stick on it.
In fact, nag-logoff ako sa facebook for almost a month nung malapit na yung exam para ma-relax at ma-focus sa mga reviewers. Discipline at dedication lang talaga.
Hanggang sa dumating na nga yung araw nung exam and luckily naipasa ko naman.
I passed CCNP Switch exam. Now what?
My initial goal for taking the CCNP switch exam is to renew my previous certification, yung CCNA nga. And now that I passed the exam, my plan is to continue the journey. No plans when I will take the other CCNP certifications but maybe that’s after a year or two na. But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop studying on my own and learn.
My goal is to learn more everyday. To share more on this blog. No plans for finding new job. I’m still enjoying where I am and what I’m doing for now. Please join me to conquer this exciting journey!
This will also be my last post for this year. Time to relax and spend quality time with the family especially it’s Christmas season. Time to enjoy and celebrate. Time to set new goals for 2016. I hope kayo din.
Next year, I’m planning to publish more articles and CCNA tips and tutorials for you guys. We will continue the remaining CCNA lessons about switching then we’ll move to routing topics. I’m also planning to create videos and will try to interview Cisco friends and colleagues to provide you with more valuable information. Just stick around mga idol!

I’m sharing all of these not to brag or mag-malaki. I’m posting this to share the lessons and provide inspiration to others lalo na sa mga beginners at gustong pumasok sa Cisco networking career.
I’m just normal guy like you. I’m not geek or super-techy like the others. Sabi ko nga I consider myself as a beginner, kasi alam ko na there is so much more to learn. I just set goals and take action. I hope you do the same. Godspeed!

Wow! Congrats! I finished my CCNA 3 training and was supposed to finish ccna 4 this month pero I stopped for a while. Hoping to be CCNA certified next year. Sobrang naging busy lang sa work kahit blog ko di na ganun kaactive. 🙁 Your posts motivates me to start another year right. And follow goals as planned. Keep posting! Hi, can you share po ung excel sheet with schedules & topic na ginamit nio po? At kung ano po mga resources na ginamit nio para masearch at mdownload ko po… Hirap na kasi mag-uwian uli para mgtake ng bootcamp for CCNP. Wala na ata MNET at wala ding sched sa RIVAN. Nung sa CCNA, nagbootcamp din aq sa MNET last feb2014, every Sat ako umuuwe ng Pinas (from Taiwan) kaya super dami gastos. Hope maishare nio po para mgka-idea ako kung ano pwd sundin sa pg-study.. thanks po.. BTW, nice blog, easy to comprehend (gaya ng turo ni mam elena! 😉 )… 😀 and I always recommend this blog sa mga friends kong may balak mgtake ng CCNA… 🙂

Hi sir Billy, I`m just wondering… kayo po gumawa ng site na to? so it means marunong po kayo ng html,css and other programming languages? May i know what programming languages you know about and ano po kayo the best way to learn them… thanks… , graduate po pala ako ng i.t nung 2015 pa po and i had cisco subjects din po before and i passed them all kaso packet tracer lng po iyon lahat, anu po ba best way to learn this cisco? nag dadalawang isip ako if web designer or mag networking job ako katulad nitong cisco. ang swerte ko nahanap ko blog mo, congrats po pala sir sa mga napasa mong exam… please help me po.

Sir dami ko pong questions haha… yung i.t support and tech support ka palang po mahirap po ba yung work ninyo? anu anu po ba ginagawa dun? gusto ko sana ipick yang job yun nga lang hindi po ako marunong mag ayos, magkalikot ng mga computers. (i`m not techie guy) grad po ako ng i.t and more on software po kasi kami and nag cisco din kasi kami yun nga lang packet tracer lang. gusto ko sana mag i.t / tech support job , di ko lng alam if pano mag simula at saan matuto nun… any idea po sir? after nun kapag nakaipon gusto ko sana mag take ng ccna training and exams. please po sana manotice mo yung mga comments ko. Salamat po!

Hehe, and sir na read k din po pala yung awesome journey ninyo. Yung nag bootcamp po kayo nag packet tracer din po ba kayo? Or puro actual ginagawa??

Sir Billy, yung nasa college kapalang po ba wla po ba kayong cisco subjects? kasi yung nabasa ko blog mo pag graduate mo sa college then work after that nag bootcamp…… ok lang kaya yun mag aral po ulit ako ng cisco? actually po yung nasa college palang ako may subjects nmn kasi kami nyan 1-4 yata yun puro packet tracer no actual, napasa ko nmn, but now nalimutan ko na po kasi kahit basic.. ginanahan ako mag network job same ng sayo yung nabasa ko blog mo…. ok lang ba if mag aral po ulit ako ng cisco?hindi po ba nakakahiya? hindi po ba sayang sa oras? or take nlng po ba ako ng exam???? actually now po di ko po alam if anu gagawin ko. pa advice nmn po…. if ever nmn po mag aral ulit ako ng cisco. then if ever ko matapos yun. bibili ako ng ebook ninyo after that review review then ipon and take ccna exam.
